RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
 DakotAbilities
provides Residential Services to approximately 112 people at 14 separate locations
in Sioux Falls, SD. We own eight Residential Facilities, and clients own or rent
at six locations.
Our Valley facility serves 15 people with significant health problems. Nurses
are present 24 hours a day. Valley serves as the agency resource for all health
care questions during evening and weekend hours.
Morrison and Blaine are large 15-bed homes located
in residential neighborhoods. A nurse is available at Morrison 10-25 hours each
week based on the resident's individual needs. Nurses
rotate through the other residential locations training staff and ensuring that client
health care issues are addressed appropriately.
Beginning in the fall of 2008, we hope to begin a modernization and downsizing of the Morrison
and Blaine homes. Each will be remodeled into 10-bed homes. At the same time, DakotAbilities will
construct two new 7-bed home on new sites in Sioux Falls.
DakotAbilities owns five smaller group homes in residential neighborhoods:
Newcomb 1 and 2, Kennedy, Rose and Sycamore.
Our clients also have the opportunity to live in an integrated residential apartment
setting. They lease apartments at 6 separate sites in the city. People living
in apartments are more independent than those in group homes. The Sycamore apartment
site is staffed 24 hours a day. At other locations, clients receive services on
an "Attendant Care" schedule.
VOCATIONAL SERVICES
 Vocational
Services are provided at two large sites operated by the agency and other smaller
locations in the city.

Workshop Locations
Contract work is done at our headquarters at 3600 S. Duluth and our Norton Worksite
at 3501 S. Norton. Clients perform a variety of tasks - from packaging golf tees
to testing keyboards - for the following customers:

Community Worksites
Clients work in the community at these locations:
- Citibank has hosted a DakotAbilities work site since 1986. The lives of both the DakotAbilities
clients and the staff at Citibank have been enriched by this long-term relationship.

ALTERNATIVE SERVICES
 For
some DakotAbilities clients, work is not meaningful or not possible. For these individuals
we provide Alternative Services. These may include home visits for people who are
less mobile. For others, Alternative Services provide an essential means of connecting
with the community. People attend various events, such as concerts, Skyforce or
Canaries games or the circus; visit public places, such as the Great Plains Zoo,
the Washington Pavilion or the Empire Mall; and enjoying activities like swimming,
movies, bowling, etc.
